Ok all, a quick update with a link to some pictures.

So, I got a few pictures from on of our camp followers. The first pic is from a camera phone, the next 7 are from my camera, and the remainders are from Dreos' camera:

It should be noted that we in the 3 Drunken Celts use the Laphroaig as a punishment scotch... truly; the picture above illustrates the point to a "T".

you'd be surprised at how long the scotch bottle design has been around. And to be fair, I NEVER said we we dead on accurate. Only that we try to be as accurate as we can without forgoiing safety or comfort :)

Laphroaig - why do you use it as a punishment scotch? It's one of my husband's staples.

Well.... to be kind about it, it tastes like ass to us. Mind you we realize that there ARE people that enjoy it (it IS the number 1 selling Scotch in the world for a reason), but we in the 3DC simply can't stand the stuff. I miyself prefer The Balvenie. Laphroaig is simply a might too peaty and smokey for us. So the punishment is: to join the 3 Drunken Celts, you must either drink a shot of Laphroaig, or bring 10 bottles to the next tasting (then 2 bottles to every tasting you attend after that). We have had a few people accept the 10 bottles rather than drink the Laphroaig.

After all it is all in good fun :)

I guess my husband has an excuse as he was born and raised in Scotland. Asie from Laphroaig, he likes Talisker and Glenmorangie and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. Perhaps I can bribe him to save up for next GWW with tales of the big scotch tasting :-)

I've always had trouble with Laphroig, as well as those peaty-iodine hit malts like Talisker. But then someone gave me a bottle of Talisker, and then hairpinturn bought me a bottle of Laphroig, and well...when they're there, right? And I kinda developed the taste for it.

I mean, c'mon, what's so awful about licking the inner lining of a bicycle tire?

Balvenie remains the goto though, and I did notice that perhaps maybe the ol' Doublewood wasn't represented at your tasting. I'd say for shame, but it's good to switch it all up.

And I got a good laugh out of the Laphroig as Punishment Scotch. Thanks for that.

Oh, no.. The Balvenies WERE represented at the tasting :) they were just secreted away for those with more discerning palates.

You see, we had the following Balvenies on site:
10yr, 12yr double wood, 15yr, 21yr port wood, and the crowning glory of this tasting; the 25year.

At Great Western War we are hoping to get either the 30yr or the 34yr Balvenies as well....
