What is wrong with people?!?!

Now, this site lists out the books which have been challenged and/or outright banned, along with a short synopsis of the reasons they were challenged in the first place. I'll tell you, some of the reasons are just downright STUPID, such as this entry:
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Anne Frank. Modern Library. Challenged in Wise County, Va. (1982) due to "sexually offensive" passages. Four members of the Alabama State Textbook Committee (1983) called for the rejection of this book because it is a "real downer."
Read the page for yourself, it shouldn't take too long. But I will warn you: If you have half a brain, you will be PISSED off at the stupidity displayed therein and may resort to posting a tirade against the American public in your own journal. I can't be held responsible for any flame wars which may ignite.
