Due tomorrow, on my boss' desk, is my first rough cut of my new job description.
Yup you heard it right, I get to write my own job description. Then I will work with my boss to make sure that not much of it changes drastically.
This feels like the opportunity of a lifetime for me. I get to define the role I will be transitioning into as Technical Support's Tech Writer. I will even, or so it appears, have 2 other people working with me from the India office which actually puts my position into a larger editorial role than first anticipated. Not only will I be creating content and solid deliverables, but I will also be editing and revising the content and deliverables created by my Indian counterparts.
This really is a dream come true, and I have the pull and say right now to make sure it fits me like a glove. The only thing left today is to actually take all the Tech writer job descriptions I found on the internet and compile and reduce them into one kick-ass description of what I will be doing come October.
